The Haunting of Room 13

My spouse, our cat, and I live in an inn that once served as a refuge for the criminally insane. The storm cellar was a funeral home in the past. Among all the rooms we've lived in, one stood out for its intense supernatural activity and negative energy. When we first moved into that room, the atmosphere felt off. The air was heavy and oppressive.

One night, my cat, Selene, was chasing something invisible around the room. She kept trying to climb the wall and looked up at the ceiling with her eyes darting in every direction. I could feel her unease through the energies she was giving off. I tried to pet her to calm her down, but she flattened her ears and gave me an angry stare. Selene is usually one of the sweetest and friendliest cats, so her sudden behavior was out of character.

I backed off and lay down in bed, watching TV while observing Selene. She jumped onto her cat tree, about a foot away from me, and still had her ears back, giving me a piercing, angry gaze. She wouldn't stop staring at me. I began to feel frightened. Every move I made in bed seemed to make her ready to jump. I had never felt scared of my cat before, but that day was different. I was so paralyzed with fear that I just lay in bed, crying uncontrollably. The energies in the room were palpable and angry.

Eventually, Selene calmed down and returned to her usual self. At first, I hesitated to pet her, but her energy reassured me that she was okay. I cried with relief when I scooped her up in my arms and held her close. Days later, my spouse and I were moving to a different room. As he was grabbing the last bit of luggage from our old room, he suddenly felt a negative, spooky energy around him, which startled him. My cat and I were already in the new room at the time, but my spouse's experience confirmed that something was indeed in that room. My spouse isn't a firm believer in spirits; he usually seeks rational explanations. However, when he admitted to feeling those unusual energies, it was clear that something was amiss in that room.
