The Haunting of Our Lodging Room

My spouse, our cat, and I were living in one of the lodging rooms. A long metal warming pipe protruded from the floor and extended over the side divider of the room. Nearby, there was a small gap in the floor, and when you peered down, it was pitch dark. I wasn't sure how deep it was, but it was deep enough to captivate my cat. Regularly, she would sit by the gap, staring at it for hours. Sometimes her ears would perk up, and her eyes would widen as she tried to put her head down the gap, but she never succeeded. One day, as she was peering into the gap, she suddenly hopped back and began backing away. I ran over and shone a spotlight into the gap but saw only darkness. I started to feel strange vibes in the air. Something had truly spooked my cat, and I'd never seen her so frightened before.

The lodging had a history of being haunted since it used to be an asylum for the criminally insane, and the basement had once been a funeral home. Several people had died there long ago. Staff members had told me they'd seen spirits numerous times, and guests had reported ghostly thumps on doors.

One of my friends, who also lived there, told me that something was in her room. She said her son's mood had changed to irate all the time, and her daughter was acting out and didn't want to go to school, even though she loved school and had never acted out before. Essentially, her children's personalities had negatively changed since they moved into that room. My friend also told me that for three nights in a row, she had dreams about a horned evil spirit, which truly scared her. She rarely had dreams, especially not three nights in a row, and especially not a nightmare. When they finally switched rooms, her kids returned to their old selves, and she hadn't dreamed of the horned evil spirit since.
